"First there was a bang. Then there was clang and then all of a sudden, out of the smoke, 3 little robots appeared."
There's more than 3 of them and nothing robotic about their playing. The sounds of Appalachia via Sheffield, London and Newcastle ring out from the right side of the Seven Hills and beyond.
This tight knit collective utilise traditional instrumentation such as banjo, ukulele and violin and employ close vocal harmonies to draw the audience into their love of folk and blues.
The Early Days
Little Robots came from the brain of Laura Little in about 2004 when she was making
little robots at art school in London.
After Laura asked Jonny Kearney and
Lucy Farrell to be little robots with her, 2009 saw their first gig in and the
Little Robots collective was born.
Now!
Now settled into their proverbial slippers Little Robots are
Laura Little (vocals and ukulele),
Mary Booth (vocals, ukulele and bass),
Ric Booth (guitar, banjo, violin and vocals),
Dolly May (vocals, round bell, melodica and ukulele) and
Guy Whittaker (percussion and vocals).
